This large raw blue tourmaline (almost 40ct.!) is a whisper of the Ocean, a fragment of Autumn sky captured in a crystalline form. Its spectrum of color is a journey in itself, from the ethereal, icy aquamarine to smokey deeper blue of the unfathomable abyss. There is a little rainbow in it as well, created by light interacting with internal fractures and inclusions. I set this beauty in oxidized sterling silver with 4mm faceted London blue topaz accent. Topaz is set in 18k gold bezel. A couple 18K gold dots complete the look. The shape of this pendant is organic with raw edges. It is inspired by handmade Japanese stoneware where subtle imperfections come from a human touch - a reflection of the deep-seated cultural reverence for nature, and the passage of time.
